HAPPY HOMEMAKER & MENU PLAN MONDAY week 34 of 2017

HAPPY Monday everyone! I hope you had a good week and an even better weekend.  Ours was quiet, but productive. We celebrated our anniversary Friday night at a wonderful new to us restaurant and had a fabulous time. We also spent Saturday helping my uncle with a project getting all hot, sweaty and dirty so we came home, cooled off and relaxed the remainder of the weekend.

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW & THE WEATHER OUTSIDE

I’m so happy we are NOT in Oregon for today’s total eclipse.  Until 2 years ago we lived near the 100% coverage area and from what I have heard it has been a zoo there for the past week with heavy traffic, sold out stores and gas stations, crowds and crowds of people…  I’m quite happy here in our 70% coverage area.

We are supposed to have beautiful skies, but will still be under heat advisory with triple digit heat and high humidity.

ON MY MIND

We have a “difficult” person in the family and are praying for guidance in understanding and dealing with this person.

THINGS THAT ARE MAKING ME HAPPY

11 days to go to my testing that will determine surgery type and date as well as the overall treatment plan.  This has been a miserable wait and I’m ready to feel better!!!

FAVORITE PHOTO FROM THE CAMERA

I have been working hard at sorting and packing up all that I can (china, winter clothing, studio parts and pieces…) for the upcoming, yet to be determined move.  We still don’t have a date for my surgery, for that matter we don’t yet know which surgery will be done as my surgeon is waiting for the results from the tests being done on September 1st.  Either way, I am working at getting a lot of the heavy work done before that test and have made good progress.

I took another load to the donation center and have designated the spare bedroom as a staging area.  The mattress isn’t there any more either.  It was a full size and no one we know or have visit is comfortable on that size so the little boy next door now has a new bed as of yesterday.

Enjoyed my visit… I just have this to say.. I am 67 and as I look over my life I can truthfully say our married life of 45 years as dissected over and over with long periods of family drama.. things out of our control that controlled our life …. Taking care of a sibling withserious mental health issues.. her subsequent bout with cancer, paralysis and death immediately followed by another sibling ‘s sudden death … serious environmental issues with his property that we were now responsible for… then caring for aging parents through a long process of disability, pain, and inability to do anything for themselves… added together it adds up to 20 years of our life… We are rejoicing today because Hubs finally got the work done around our home we’ve lived in for 30 years. done and we can sit back and enjoy…I believe God tests us through life.. we are not promised an easy ride…sometimes I go through periods of resentment and angst.. but again… I know that if we had turned our back on those who needed us I would be much more miserable as a human being..everything we endured and the trials we passed through molded us into the people we are today!

QuiltLady

Thank you for your visit. I’m so sorry you have had to endure all of that. You are correct though, God does test us or as my dad used to say, God never gives us more than we can carry. I would never turn my back on someone in need, but in this case that’s exactly what is biting us in the butt. I can deal with anything, but when someone purposely refuses to interact and solve a non-existent (it’s only in their head) problem creating the “drama”, they become the problem in my book.

Jean

Happy Belated Anniversary! We have had more than our share of some family drama this year and I told my husband our goal was to “not let their drama become our drama” I think that’s the key and it takes a lot of focus and I admit that we occasionally stumble. It’s a tough thing. Hoping that those 11 days go by quickly for you and of course, that you have a fantastic week!

QuiltLady

Thank You for the anniversary wishes! We have been following that same path for dealing with the drama, BUT every now and then it tries to creep in. Unfortunately, this person believes they are the “strong” and “positive” one. It is of course EVERYBODY else who is the problem when in reality they are the one creating that storm that is raining on all of us because of their attitude.

Oh my! When I saw your comment come through on my blog, I clicked through to your Google+. I saw the Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Chicken Bites. Oh my! They look tantalizingly tempting! Now mind you, with the chemo, nothing really tastes that great, but I wanted to save the recipe! I can’t find it on your blog. Can you help me?

Be blessed,
Laura

Oh, I answered your comment on my blog, but I couldn’t find your email address to respond.

QuiltLady

Weird that recipe popped up. It’s sitting in the scheduled file. But, here’s the recipe so you can file it away for when things taste better. Give you something to look forward 😀
BACON WRAPPED JALAPENO CHICKEN BITES adapted from Trisha Yearwood
Chicken spread with cream cheese stuffed into jalapenos, rolled and wrapped with bacon and then grilled. YUMMY!

8 chicken tenders, diced small
3-ounce package cream cheese, softened
8 LARGE jalapeno peppers, halved and seeded
8 slices bacon, cut in half

Stir chicken pieces into softened cream cheese.
Dab ½ teaspoon (more or less) of cream cheese on top of each chicken tender.
Wrap each roll with one piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
Grill until bacon is brown and crispy on both sides.

NOTE: Be sure to wear plastic gloves when handling fresh jalapenos. The oil will attach itself to your hands and is not easily washed away. Even an inadvertent swipe of the hand close to your eyes could be a VERY unforgettable experience.

Girl you are so very organized! I can only imagine my life that way. I didn’t even get my supper menus made in time this week. I’ll have to go back and fill it in.

I pray that your surgery will go well. I speak life, health and healing over you by the power of the blood of Jesus Christ and in his name. Amen.

Please drop by and say hello!
