FLOOD UPDATE ~ BLOG 365.78B

Flood waters have receded thankfully, but it’s still raining and EVERYTHING is water logged, slimey and drenched, as well as saturated from the SUPER wet winter. We went from a normal rain event to flooding and snow within a VERY short time!!!

I was able to get a few pictures during a short break between storms and there are still many storms piling up to drop more rain and snow, but for now clean up has begun and things are returning to “normal”, whatever that is!

Normally a lazy creek, NOT a river.

Normally a green grassy area. The road behind it collapsed and was replaced yesterday.
It happened so fast that many businesses didn’t sand bag soon enough. And sump pumps couldn’t keep up. Even if they had, there was no where to pump to 🙁
Thankfully the river crested several hours before this. While it was a record high it was NOT THE record high from many years ago.
We don’t normally have a river behind the house. Storm drain are under there somewhere, but at capacity.

CHRISTMAS COUNTRY CHURCHES

These are 2 of my favorite country churches from Michigan.  I took these pictures in 2011 at Christmas time ON THE SAME DAY. That’s how fast weather changes with lake effect snow!

I JUST LOVE OLD CHURCHES! The bottom 3 pictures was a REALLY neat stone church in the middle of town.

But, my favorite country church is from a teeny tiny little town called Mansfield. It was once a growing little town until there was a mine disaster.  Now all that exists is the monument to the disaster, the church and a few random homes.

DAY 9 ~ BLOGMAS 2017 ~ WINTER WONDERLAND MEMORY PICTURES

I can’t actually get to the disks with pictures from some of our more favorite Christmases so will share these 2013 ones with you.  This was a great year as we actually had lots of snow in Oregon. We loved living so close to the Christmas tree farm also.  Beautiful trees for reasonable costs unlike here.

The year had been VERY wet which is the normal, but an arctic storm blew in and all of a sudden everything turned white. This was our first snowstorm of the season, just before Christmas.
Hubby made this heart for me to wake up to in the back yard before the snow got too bad.

The house across the street usually looks REALLY horrible, but NOT when it’s under a blanket of snow.

Unfortunately, being in a cul-de-sac, delivery tracks leave MANY tire tracks at this time of year to mar the beautiful snow cover.
Even Rudolph was shivering!
Even Rudolph was shivering!
The first day after he storm was absolutely gorgeous though! This is one of my favorite pictures. The duck pond behind the neighborhood was truly a work of art.
Obviously we hadn’t gone anywhere – no tire tracks!
The fish ladder was like glass with the cold and ice.
