The weather has been ALL over the place! We are getting an hour or so each day that’s nice, but still having multiple weather patterns each day. We are seeing a couple of spring poppy blooms finally though and the hummingbird vine is coming in quite well. Today is Levi’s and a favorite hoodie kind of day. Highs in the low 60’s (maybe) and lows in the high 30’s to low 40’s.

THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
  • LAUNDRY & CLEANING I’ve been doing some deep cleaning, sorting for donations and a friend’s garage sale and just some much needed overall organizing. Laundry is up to date and actually folded as well as put away.
  • GROCERIES & ERRANDS I have some grocery runs to do for the Eagles this week and an oncology appointment in a neighboring town an hour+ away so hubby and I will take that day to maybe do a little antiquing and have a nice dinner.
  • PAPERWORK, PHONE CALLS, PROJECTS & TRAVELS This is all part of my organizing. I have notes everywhere and am attempting to organize my busy life into a single notebook in hopes of simplifying things – wish me luck 😀
  • RECIPE RESEARCH & MENU PLANNING I’m still taking this one week at a time…

WHAT’S ON THE DVR/TV
  • We are finally caught up on the DVR shows and even watched an old movie that we’d never seen before Tidal Wave – No Escape with Corbn Bernson and The Homesman with Tommy Lee Jones and Hilary Swank. We started watching COACH at night when we go to bed – hubby can’t seem to fall asleep without the TV while I read.

I am back to finishing The Alice Network at night on my kindle, but have been so tired I only get about 10 minutes in before I fall asleep. During the day when I have time I’m reading I Still Dream About You by Fannie Flagg on my phone app.

BREAKFAST is always a work in progress for me – it will generally be hot water and a fruit yogurt 😀

Years ago we rehabbed a Queen Anne Victorian that was 120 years old. It came with some really old German bearded iris bulbs. When we left there I dug up several and brought them with us. Obviously they were VERY hearty stock! They still look beautiful today.

Hubby has been working diligently on the power washing after the long wet winter. This year is the worst it’s ever been! Each section is taking a very long time, but it is starting to look better little by little. And aren’t these baby chicks adorable? I check them out every time I go to the feed store. 😀

It’s cloudy and gray, which is no big surprise 😀 Today’s high is supposed to be around 50 or so and then clear for the rest of the week. Clear will be awesome during the day, but will bring back some cold nights. Levis and a favorite long sleeve t-shirt. I am trading in the UGG’s for tennies in hopes that spring really is here to stay.

THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
  • LAUNDRY & CLEANING I got caught up on all the laundry and cleaning this weekend. 😀
  • GROCERIES & ERRANDS I only need a few things for me this week, but I’m preparing dinner Tuesday AND Friday for the Eagles and need several things for those meals. Fortunately, I only have to cook for tomorrow and not serve. I have a hair cut and first pedicure for the season tomorrow and will pick up the groceries I need at that time.
  • PAPERWORK, PHONE CALLS, PROJECTS & TRAVELS My main goal today is to get caught up on this category! Yesterday I was heavy into spring cleaning and sorting through linen and bathroom type things. Another friend has been doing the same thing and my car is full of donations from the 2 of us.
  • RECIPE RESEARCH & MENU PLANNING I’m still doing a few slow cooked meals and looking for lighter spring recipes.

WHAT’S ON THE DVR/TV
  • NETFLIX I watched the BRICKLAYER an action packed CIA type movie
  • PRIME We’ve been watching a new series called FALLOUT with Walter Goggins – a bit weird and even raunchy in places, but intriguing too.
  • CABLE The DVR is pretty well cleaned up, but there are a few lingering shows to catch up on – WHEN CALLS THE HEART, SPRING BAKING CHAMPIONSHIP, TRACKER, NCIS, LAW & ORDER, BLUE BLOODS, GHOSTS, YOUNG SHELDON, GOOD DOCTOR…

I’m still trying to finish THE ALICE NETWORK by Kate Quinn on my actual kindle – just can’t talk myself into walking away completely. I did start Fannie Flagg’s I STILL DREAM ABOUT YOU on my kindle phone app which I’ve been reading in waiting rooms and such.

BREAKFAST is always a work in progress for me – it will generally be hot water and a fruit yogurt 😀

I hope y’all had a GREAT week. Mine was spent traveling. All and all it has been a good trip. Day 1 and 2 surprised us with cold and snow, but in a good way. We have seen and waited in a ton of road construction making it seem A LOT longer!

This whole trip was to search for houses for our next and hopefully final project. We still have many to look at, but have looked at 4 dozen so far. Of those we’ve narrowed it down to 6 or so we’re interested in and definitely ruled OUT several neighborhoods all together. We want a project house, but don’t have enough money to gentrify an entire neighborhood so are being picky for this next project. We have another 10 or so to see today.

We have a niece, her fiance’, her daughter and her brother, our nephew that recently moved to this area and were able to meet up with them and spend some great family time yesterday. 😀 We have 2 more days to finish investigating before we begin the trip home. We wish we had a bit more time here to meet up with blog friends and other relatives, but schedules are being dictated by medical appointments. We will be able to meet up with some old friends and our niece in California along the way before spending promised time with hubby’s sister on our way home.

The weather will vary a lot for us this week from starting with the low 80’s down to the 50’s by the time we end our travels at sis in law’s. Night time lows will also vary from 50’s to 30’s.

Hot water and cherry vanilla yogurt. I can’t wait for my appointment with the chronic care manager. I’m STILL waiting for the gastroenterologist to get my meter handled, but his office is still trying to figure that out. Every time I call I get a new person that promises to follow through and yet it’s now the 18th! My original appointment was the 24th of last month and there is no sign of completion yet. I had another middle of the night (1:30 AM) reactive hypoglycemic episode last night that was soooooooo scary and completely avoidable if I had been wearing the monitor! What if I hadn’t woken up? Fortunately/(unfortunately) I start sweating and my heart starts sweating when it drops that low and trying to raise it before it gets any lower  and I pass out risks an opposite and equally unpleasant reaction of dumping syndrome that also makes my heart race, sweating and pure discomfort!

THIS WEEK’S LIST
  • HOUSE HUNTING

WHAT’S ON THE DVR/TV
  • WHATEVER WE CAN FIND IN HOTEL ROOMS. WE’LL CATCH UP ON THE DVR WHEN WE GET HOME.

Listening to Jana DeLeon’s Miss Fortune books on Audible.

There were so many… but this one of the snow in Reno  midafternoon day one of the trip is a true favorite.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. We did, but it was a hot one! Summer is obviously here with a vengeance and we all need to stay hydrated and avoid heat exhaustion.

We have some friends who are catastrophe insurance adjusters and were leaving to spend the summer in the southeast for hurricane season so I baked them some super easy, but tasty snack cakes for the road trip. These are super refreshing and easy to make snack cakes so thought I’d share the link so you can make it too. 😀 This is one of the only snacks that I don’t make from scratch 😀  PINEAPPLE ANGEL FOOD SNACK CAKE

We have been having record setting excessive heat here in the Pacific North West, especially this past weekend. Yesterday was 115!, which is VERY hot for here. It has been breaking a lot of records and stressed 🙁 a lot of refrigeration units and swamp coolers which are popular here because of the lower humidity. The restaurant we decided on last night had their compressor freeze up and had to turn the A/C off mid dinner so it was pretty miserable.

Unfortunately I had already signed up for a painting class for yesterday so I HAD to venture out in the heat 🙁 hence why we decided to eat out.

The heat is supposed to last through Thursday, so here comes July! I can’t stress enough to stay hydrated and avoid direct sun when possible! I grew up in this kind of summer heat, but it’s been many years since I’ve dealt with it on a regular basis so as I get older it seems hotter.

Hot water and black cherry yogurt.

THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
  • LAUNDRY & CLEANING Since I was spending the bulk of the weekend indoors I got caught up on laundry and cleaning.
  • GROCERIES & ERRANDS I do need to get a few groceries and run a few errands this week, but have no specific plan at this point.
  • PAPERWORK & PHONE CALLS  I also got most of the paperwork out of the way over the hot weekend.
  • RECIPE RESEARCH & MENU PLANNING I’m working on July’s menu plan and looking for some lighter more refreshing recipes for the summer.

WHAT’S ON THE DVR/TV
  • TUBI Not sure how we missed it the first time around but we watched Wyatt Earp with Kevin Costner and a whole slew of other big name celebrities. We also saw SNITCH with Dwayne Johnson and Murder By Numbers with Sandra Bullock. I also found a really old show called Sky King and watched several episodes.
  • DISNEY+ Looking forward to watching The Mysterious Benedict Society later this week.
  • CABLE Guy’s Grocery Games is back “post” COVID with a major remodel, new games and carrying over the at home version of scoring that I’m enjoying A LOT! I also finally got caught up on all the shows I missed while we were on our trip. We’ve also been watching some old Night Court episodes and 3rd Rock from the Sun.

I’m in the middle of A Fire Sparkling by Julianne MacLean

A Fire Sparkling by [Julianne MacLean]

I signed up for two painting classes this week. One was yesterday and the other will be Friday. I think they will make good companion pieces to each other. The first one is theirs and the second one is mine. I’ll re-post next week after I finish the background, the bow and finish touching up the stars as I’m not happy with any of them, but I had to leave early as the heat was really oppressive.

It was so hot this week that even the sunflower that thrives in the heat and sun was panting!

Hello sweet friends. How was your week/weekend? It rained here and was downright cold on Saturday so we stayed in and watched some racing and a couple of movies, but the Sunday was pretty nice. We took a walk around the pond and even though spring is later than normal, it was pretty cool with the breeze. As long as you keep going though you don’t seem to notice it much!

This week is supposed to be the nicest yet this spring.  Cool mornings, sunny afternoons and just plain pretty. Highs in the 60’s and lows in the 40’s.

THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
We actually decided to up and take a little trip this week so I actually have nothing lined up until I get back Friday and I have a painting class on Saturday 😀

WHAT’S ON THE DVR/TV
  • NETFLIX Still working on Stargate SG! We also watched Thunder Force with Melissa McCarthy, Jason Bateman and Octavia Spencer and KILLERS with Ashton Kutcher, Kathryn Heigl, and Tom Selleck
  • CABLE Great American Food Truck Race, Easter Baking Challenge, GGG, DDD, Beat Bobby Flay, Spring Baking Challenge, Tournament of Champions, Clarice, Ellen’s Game of Games, Bull, New Amsterdam, The Good Doctor, 911, 911 Lone Star, FBI, FBI Most Wanted, Young Sheldon, The Unicorn, Last Man Standing, MOM, Call Your Mother, NCIS, NCIS New Orleans, NCIS LA, Magnum PI, MacGyver, Blue Bloods, The Resident, Chicago series

I just finished a long tedious trilogy read by Nadia Lee, but I stuck with it and am really glad it is over. I have never NOT finished a book, but I often wish I had 🙁 This was one that took 3 books to tell a story that should have and could be told in 2 and even possibly in one.

I just downloaded SPY MISTRESS by Jennifer Chiaverini, “New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Chiaverini is back with another enthralling historical novel set during the Civil War era, this time inspired by the life of “a true Union woman as true as steel” who risked everything by caring for Union prisoners of war — and stealing Confederate secrets”,  and am looking forward to starting that.  I’ve read her many times in the past with her quilt series and always enjoy her stories.

The DOUBLE PINK Flashpoint tulip plant that we bought my mom for mother’s day has opened beautifully! They are not your typical tulip style as the have more petals. I believe they call it a peony style.

GOOD MORNING ladies.  I hope you had a GREAT week and weekend and that your weather is as wonderful as mine is!  I had a VERY productive week and we watched the Nascar races, the RAMS game, the Steelers game and rented a couple Redbox movies for the rainy weekend.  Yesterday was my birthday and I had a visit from my favorite munchkins, cooked some fun food and relaxed!

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW & THE WEATHER OUTSIDE & WHAT I’M WEARING Outside my window FALL has arrived 😀  I cannot tell you how happy this makes me!  A storm rolled in yesterday and the temperature dropped while the rain began to fall just to punctuate the new season.  I’ve packed away the summer clothes and pulled out the fall clothes which aren’t much different except for sleeve length and adding sweatshirts 😀 So today is Levis, a long sleeve purple t-shirt and gray Jelly Pop tennies.

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE I’d like to say that the eating issue is better, but well, I can’t 🙁  I remain hopeful though.  Each day is a new day and we try fresh to make it work.  Today is black cherry yogurt, hot water and oatmeal

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE, WEEKLY TO DO LIST, HOUSE & CRAFT PROJECTS, APPOINTMENTS

  • LAUNDRY, LIVING AREAS & KITCHEN… laundry is caught up, but I need to do a deep clean on the kitchen and clean up my clothes sorting mess from the living room
  • YARD… it’s wet, but hubby is getting things cut back for fall
  • APPOINTMENTS & TO DO… yesterday was my birthday, but I didn’t want to go anywhere in the rain so I think we’ll take off Wednesday or Thursday and go to the coast antiquing and out for lunch
  • BLOG… Can you believe it only 101 days until Christmas?  I’m starting to plan some BLOGMAS 2019 posts
  • CRAFTS/PROJECTS…  I finished the garland and have been sorting through Christmas boxes to decide what to use this year and what to donate to the local memory care facility.

WHAT IS ON THE DVR, I LIKE OR ON THE LIST TO WATCH/SOMETHING INTERESTING I WATCHED The season starts next week with the exception of Dancing with the Stars which begins tonight so the DVR is virtually empty, but I will get it programmed this week for the new shows we want to try.

FAVORITE PHOTO FROM THE CAMERA I didn’t get anything but food pictures this week.

GOOD MORNING I’m back from our trip and we had a GREAT time.  I still need to finish editing pictures, but all in good time.  Right now I’m trying to get back into a routine and organized.  Traveling was hard on my system with trying to regulate the hypoglycemia and stay hydrated while getting enough activity and the proper diet.  I had a few reactions, but all and all we were able to keep it under control.  I’m looking forward to visiting everyone now that I’m back and returning to my regular “blog routine”.

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW & THE WEATHER OUTSIDE & WHAT I’M WEARING I follow 2 different weather sites and they are usually quite similar 😀 It is supposed to cool down a bit this week despite one day in the 80’s and rain too which works well for inside projects.  I love that my birthday falls mid September and is usually in the 60’s with the added bonus of being the gateway to FALL, my favorite season!!  It’s only 2 weeks away.  Fall officially begins on September 23rd!! I have on Levi’s, a plaid blouse and pops.

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE hot water, peach yogurt and snap pea pods

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE, WEEKLY TO DO LIST, HOUSE & CRAFT PROJECTS, APPOINTMENTS

  • LAUNDRY, LIVING AREAS & KITCHEN… pretty clean and caught up on laundry 😀
  • YARD… some weeding and clean-up
  • APPOINTMENTS & TO DO… a long overdue nail appointment now that we’re back from our trip, sort through winter clothes which will be a serious project as EVERYTHING needs to be tried on since all the medical issues with the excessive weight loss and trying to get some things together for ETSY and EBAY sales before October.
  • BLOG… I need to start thinking about BLOGMAS for 2019 and get back on track with the antique recipes.
  • CRAFTS/PROJECTS… hopefully the final parts arrive today to finish the Christmas garland.  BTW it’s only 107 days until Christmas, just saying 😀

ON MY MIND / THINGS THAT ARE MAKING ME HAPPY While we were away hubby’s father passed away.  This is really sad for us, but was also somewhat expected. The part that is on my mind is how things are being handled by my SIL.  Hubby has 3 sisters and a brother.  One of the sisters is a, hmmm what do I say here, let’s just call her controlling.  So much so, that in the past EVERYONE just gives into her instead of standing up for what is the best or right thing to do.  His mom passed away 2 1/2 years ago and it was decided then that her ashes would be put on the mantle to wait for dad to pass and then we would do a joint celebration of life.

The part that is on my mind now is hubby is quite upset because the controlling sister is not communicating and just deciding unilaterally how the celebration of life is going to be handled as well as EVERYTHING else!  She has chosen the worst and most inconvenient time (Thanksgiving Day) and decided to do a “dinner” at her house.  Did I mention she has a small house?  He has a few issues with this as does his brother, but she won’t listen to hubby and the 2 older sisters just won’t confront her.  Issue number 1 is that Thanksgiving is like 3 months from dad’s passing.  Issue number 2 is that she lives in smaller neighborhood with limited parking.  Issue number 3 is that we have a HUGE family and everyone would like to be there and many family members are now married with kids and grand kids or blended families making Thanksgiving completely a poor time choice.  Both brothers are in favor of giving mom and dad their own day and having the celebration at the Elks where there is ample space and parking.  They also believe that mom and dad would want it that way and so do I.  I support hubby and what he wants, but it’s not my place to get into it with his sister and so I pray that the situation works itself out without too many bad feelings between siblings.

Dad was 97 years, 8 months and 1 week old.  Mom was 4 days short of her 97th birthday. Makes me feel ancient to think of it, but then I remember hubby is 20 years older than me and wasn’t the eldest so everything goes back into perspective for me.

WHAT IS ON THE DVR, I LIKE OR ON THE LIST TO WATCH/SOMETHING INTERESTING I WATCHED I’m looking forward to the fall season, but in the meantime football is back, Chesapeake Shores has returned and there are some Hallmark movies on the DVR 😀

I’M READING I’m now working on Women and Children First: Bravery, love and fate: the untold story of the doomed Titanic.  I can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed The Secret Wife by a wonderful historical novelist, Gill Paul and her amazing ability to weave a tale that makes you feel like you’re living the history yourself.

FAVORITE PHOTO FROM THE CAMERA – I’m still editing the trip photos, but here’s another peek from the amazing wildlife we encountered.  We LITERALLY ran across 2 different herds just hanging out by the main road and neighborhoods.  This is about a third of the herd that was moving through this neighborhood.  The guy that owns this house won’t need to trim his hedge or fertilize his lawn for quite some time!
