Caprese Salad is a very simple but amazingly delicious Italian dish, a must try if you’ve never had it!
Start with Fresh Mozzarella cheese (I used mozzarella rolled with prosciutto for a little extra pizazz), slice cheese and tomatoes alternating, add some fresh basil leaves, drizzle with olive oil, add a little salt and pepper to taste. Serve with at room temperature with some fresh, preferably warm Italian bread – Delizioso!
Speaking of Italian delights, I have a surprise for all of you. We have a new once a month recipe day beginning next week …
“Cooking the Italian Way” will be hosted by the multi-talented Joanne of Eats Well With Others! Joanne will be posting “Cooking The Italian Way” the first Saturday of every month right here at Our Krazy Kitchen! What a special treat!
Love these salads… and Joanne, welcome to the family!
Mmm, this looks delicious. Almost too pretty to eat.
I am glad you shared this. This is just a nice way to eat, light and filled with flavor. Sounds good right now. We had pizza and after eating pizza, light is right.
As far as Joanne jump aboard, she has to share her stories with us. She is a master story teller. Stories and recipes are both great.
Thanks everyone!
Melissa – Surprisingly mozzarella is pretty quick and easy to make from recipes I’ve seen. I’ve never personally made it but I’ll give it a try soon. If you try it before I do let me know!
that does look yummy! I’ve never had that type of salad before but looking forward to trying it soo!
and what a great feature with an Italian based entry!
betty
I want some now! Looks so beautiful, Martha! I never buy tomatoes in the winter, I’ll have to wait for summer on this one.
This is one of my most favorite and simple meals – YUMMY!
Welcome aboard Joanne!
We love Caprese Salad! When we have tomatoes and basil from the garden, we’ll sometimes have this for dinner. Too bad fresh mozzarella isn’t less expensive; do you know if it can be made at home?
I’m so excited Martha! Thanks for the intro. And caprese is a classic that really can’t be beat.
ps.
Can’t wait for the italian food feature!
On of our faves…and yet I don’t “make” it that often. Hard to find good tomatoes these days.
When we had it in Italy…O M G!
Nice pics you got there too!
Hugs,
Nance
Yum! Sometimes I cut the basil in chiffonade if the leaves are too potent…as they sometimes are toward the end of the season in my garden!
Gorgeous!
