The key to any good bread is using quality fresh ingredients.
Just remember, garbage in is garbage out.
Let your bread maker do the rest!

YESTERDAY

TODAY

My first Iris of Spring.
It’s about time.
The sun graced us for enough time to let this little one open her bloom.

Barbara, I hope yours bloom this year. This is what those bulbs look like.
Aren’t they beautiful and worth the wait?
And now it’s thunder storming and pouring down rain yet again.

Summer Swaps ~ Favorite Things, Parasols, Pink Lemonade & Polka Dots

Though I have only been doing them a couple of years, I love doing swaps. It is such a great opportunity to meet others and see a glimpse into their world in hopes of learning something new to brighten my own world with while also sharing a piece of mine with them. This summer I signed up for two, My Favorite Things and Sweet Goodness Parasols, Pink Lemonade & Polka Dots. I’m having a lot of fun with both of these and can’t wait to unveil the finished projects. I’ve been paired with two great partners Breanna and CeeKay. The deadline is approaching fast so look for a sneak peek soon.

Camera Critters – Momma

Who can resist critters? Come join us and have some fun.
You can get more information at Camera Critters.

I took these pictures the first week of June.

Thumper was here having leftovers from last night for breakfast when momma sauntered over looking for breakfast. She had just given birth the day before and has been coming across for small regular meals since. Then she saunters back over to where she has the fawn hidden in the high brush behind her. Fortunately the people across the street here on the edge of town are only here a couple of weeks a year so momma feels safe having her babies here every year.

Rayne asked whether she has let me get close to the baby this year. As long as I stay a reasonable distance and bring her a treat (a handful of cracked corn or a carrot) she will let me peek. This year’s site isn’t conducive to taking a decent picture so I offer you a picture of her fawn from father’s day 2006.

Favorite Ingredient Friday ~ Butterfinger Cookies

hosted by Overwhelmed with Joy
This recipe is so simple and tastes so decadent.
It is also a fun recipe to get the kids to do at holiday time.

BUTTERFINGER COOKIES
Ritz Crackers
Creamy Peanut Butter
Almond Bark
Sprinkles

  • Spread a thick layer of Peanut Butter on a Ritz Cracker
  • Top with another Ritz Cracker
  • Continue until you have the desired amount of cookie sandwiches
  • Melt Almond Bark in stages as necessary (it will cool fairly quickly)
  • Dip each cookie with a small pair of tongs into almond bark and coat well
  • Gently lay each ‘cookie’ on a wax paper sheet
  • While chocolate is still ‘wet’, top with sprinkles
  • Allow to harden
  • Store in an airtight container
  • Enjoy – they taste just like Butterfinger candy bars

Tag, you're it…

I’ve been tagged by Susan at Art Angelix and now I’m supposed to tell you 3 things about myself. There are the 3 very obvious things:
  1. I like to cook
  2. I like to blog
  3. I like to quilt
but I’m told it should be 3 things you don’t already know, which is considerably harder.

  1. I’m a night owl and an early bird which makes for poor sleeping habits. I think I’m just afraid to miss anything so I stay up late to get my lists accomplished and get up early to get a good start on them.
  2. I’m an avid reader and usually have 2 or 3 books going at the same time and at any given point in time.
  3. I’m a list maker! I can’t stand to miss anything so I write lists for everything!
The rules were 6 things, but Valerie Foster changed the rules and I’m sure glad she did.
3 Things was hard enough!
