CEMETERIES & WEEKEND FLOWERS & COLOR CARNIVAL

I just needed to get out for awhile today and was really hoping to run across one of those roadside vendors for some fresh strawberries. I didn’t run across any strawberries, but did find a couple of interesting cemeteries.


When I ran across this first cemetery, I expected to find that it was quite old. While it was quite old, it also had several recent burials. I just don’t know what my draw is towards cemeteries, but I find them fascinating.


This next cemetery I ran across was also quite old, but with recent burials. What really surprised me was to find that it was sooooooooooooooooooo overgrown!








Now the only thing buried here besides these bulbs might be a pet or two, but the flowers are loving it. I just love irises!

Another day in the Garden


I took this picture of the poppies with just a hint of red showing through one afternoon and then the next day they looked like this. I guess a little sunshine goes a long way!

And now the apple tree has these awesome blooms EVERYWHERE!

Another Fine Day in the Garden ~ A long time coming, but well worth the wait!



It’s been a long time coming this year, but well worth the wait.

One of the best things about these flowers is the fact that they are antiques and original to the yard for as long as anyone can remember. The house itself is 116 years old and in speaking with descendants from the area and of those that have lived in the house, I’ve been able to take the flowers back to at least 1948. I have yet to meet anyone that remembers before that or was related to the owners before that time, so who knows maybe they go back even further. I did dig them up last year and clean and split the bulbs the way HGTV suggested and they seem just as beautiful this year. I passed on the splits to my mom, cousin, Kathy and Barbara. Barbara says hers are about to bloom too.

Today in the garden

A few more irises popped up in the back!
The day lillies are loving the sun today and
the “weed” patch there is really a “POPPY” patch about to pop.
And Miss Whiskey volunteered to do the weeding.

My first Iris of Spring.
It’s about time.
The sun graced us for enough time to let this little one open her bloom.
Barbara, I hope yours bloom this year. This is what those bulbs look like.
Aren’t they beautiful and worth the wait?
And now it’s thunder storming and pouring down rain yet again.
