HAPPY HOMEMAKER & MENU PLAN MONDAY week 26 of 2021

Be sure to join us for Happy Homemaker Monday and link up
with our host, Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom

I hope everyone had a wonderful Father’s Day weekend with lots of family, fun and relaxation! Our was quiet with a couple small projects and errands. We also went for pizza (hubby’s choice) at one of our favorite restaurants.

Hello Summer! Bring on the sunshine! I know it’s hot just about everywhere, but it’s really been tolerable here with refreshing breezes – just don’t stand out in the direct sun too long!

THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
  • LAUNDRY & CLEANING I got caught up on laundry yesterday
  • GROCERIES & ERRANDS I do need a few groceries for this week’s menu and hubby and I both have doctor’s appointments
  • PAPERWORK & PHONE CALLS I have some paperwork I have to get done this week
  • RECIPE RESEARCH & MENU PLANNING Menus are made through the first week in July and the heat has really set in so I may reevaluate it a bit

WHAT’S ON THE DVR/TV
  • NETFLIX Tried to watch Black Summer, but not my kind of Zombie series
  • DISNEY+ Hoping to try LOKI this week
  • TUBI We’ve been watching Petticoat Junction which were before my time, but kind of cute for a black and white sit com from the 60’s and have started HIGHLANDER with Adrian Paul 😀 We also saw SNITCH with Dwayne Johnson and an old Jerry Stiller/Anne Meara movie, A Fish in the Bathtub
  • CABLE Just catching up on cooking and baking shows

I’m between books and will be starting one of these this week. A Fire Sparkling by Julianne Maclean, The CookBook Club by Beth Harbison, Seaside Manor Bed and Breakfast by Lilly Mirren or What We Find by Robyn Carr

When we re-did the flower beds, garden beds and whiskey barrels last year we purchased all new garden soil to fill the new beds. While it can’t be explained, evidently there were calla lily bulbs ground up into the new garden soil somehow. We have NEVER planted calla lilies before, but now have them coming up like volunteers beautifully everywhere we placed the new soil 😀

The bees have been having a hey day with the pink mallow and heather especially.

The hummingbirds have been flitting about everywhere with all the flowers in bloom.

Beautiful flowers! Volunteer flowers are always the best. Reminding me that I need to refill my hummingbird feeder, afraid I’ve been neglecting it a bit this year. Didn’t know there was a new zombie series on Netflix, might have to check it out…actually, it sounds familiar. Wonder if I already watched it. Hmm. Hope you have an amazing week!

Thank you! The flowers have been utterly amazing this year! I just made fresh food and filled the hummingbird feeders AGAIN! It was called Black summer, but I gave up on it in episode 3 – not as grabbing to me as Walking Dead is. I had trouble investing in the characters. Have a GREAT rest of the week too 😀

Hello dearest lovely Tamy
Love your flowers – and I’m so jealous you’re getting lots of hummingbird action. I’ve hardly had any so far this summer. Hopefully they’ll find me again and start their daily visits.
It has been pretty warm some days here – but overall heavenly and I’m just soaking it up this summer. Lots of walks with Ruby and just sitting out water gazing, reflecting….growing. This is going to be the summer I truly heal and change. So I loved your inspiration tip about changing something in the routine. I’ve been doing some of that but planning to do a lot more!
I hope you have a blessed rest of your week and stay cool

QuiltLady

Thank you sweetie. I just love sitting on the back patio in the breeze watching them chase each other, flap their wings incessantly and feed. They are truly amazing and we have a version here that DOESN’T migrate so I’m convinced that they are they same birds year round and that they know me 😀 Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as you heal this summer my friend. Have a TREMENDOUS week.

Sandra

I would take your temperatures right now. I’m so done with the triple digits already, I feel the older I get the less I can handle the heat. hahaha

As always, and I feel like a broken record, but your food is so yummy looking. Always makes me hungry.

Have a blessed week friend,
Sandra

QuiltLady

Thank you! We’re even getting close to triple digits here, so I’d obviously rather be there if I have to endure it either way 😀

QuiltLady

LOL 😀 You had to go and say that HA HA there is NO BREEZE here today and it feels 10 degrees hotter than it is!!!!!! The calla lillies are fun and I’m not doing anything to discourage them, but am still in awe that they grew from scratch with no bulb! Have a great week too!

Martha

I’m glad you are having nice breezes in the heat. That’s the weird thing here, it’s always so still in the summer, no breeze at all. I love all the beautiful calla lilies that are coming up, they are really pretty! Have an awesome week Tamy!
