WEEKEND RECAP

I spent Saturday primarily at an Eagle’s function and then at an impromptu birthday party in the evening. Sunday was another lazy day with friends and football and I did get a little baking done.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE

FINALLY the fog is here in the mornings as our lows are nearing the 30’s. This week is predicted to be in the 70’s. YAY Fall is here!

WEEK IN RECAP

September has just flown by and quickly at that! I want to enjoy the ‘BER months so I’m going to do my best to slow October down!!

Tuesday and Thursday were spent getting a good friend to and from physical therapy, running her errands and trying to get caught up on her yard work and house maintenance.

Wednesday was a close friend’s birthday so we spent the day with her and many other friends celebrating first with lunch and then drinks that lingered into the evening. There was a ton of good food, great desserts and lots and lots and lots more laughter.

Friday I finally got caught up on some paperwork, but I am NOT finished with it… YET…

Saturday we went to a few Barn and yard sales, but only found a few things I couldn’t live without. Also got most of the grocery shopping done, at least until the end of the week.

Sunday… what can I say? Sunday started great and ended up super lazy! I watched football all day and did finish my book though 😀

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE

It’s going to be another perfect fall week of temperatures in the 70’s during the day and 40’s at night. Perfect for me 😀

ON MY MIND

Prayers for all the people affected by the horrific hurricane Helene. The destruction caused to human life as well as the infrastructure of the south is unimaginable. I pray for help to arrive just as swiftly as the hurricane did.

As we say in Texas, Happy Fall Y’ALL

WEEKEND RECAP

Good morning dear friends. Can you believe we are in the last week of September already? It blows my mind how fast time is going these days. I’m sitting here having some butterscotch coffee and getting my day/week organized – it’s going to be a busy one! Come sit with me and have a cup while we chat.

My weekend started early again this week. Some girlfriends took me and a bestie out for dinner and a play for our birthdays. At this age we’ve decided that we have birthday months and if it isn’t something to do or food we don’t need it 😀

We had a GREAT time. In this small community we don’t have A LOT of choices or venues for good food and cultural events, yet the night was wonderful. We saw Agatha Christie’s THE MOUSETRAP which I learned has been playing somewhere in the world (with the exception of during COVID) continuously for over 70 years!

Dinner was at a “new” restaurant, but I also found out that it is the same owners of an old favorite restaurant that has recently shut it’s doors EXCEPT for Sunday brunch and special events. The Parrot House is an old Victorian house that had been renovated into a restaurant several years back and was always a place for special occasions. The owner had sold a couple years back, but was doing the financing for the new owners and had to take it back when the mortgage wasn’t being paid. Unfortunately, the buyers had run it down horribly during the term and the necessary required maintenance and overhaul made it so they couldn’t continue on a day to day basis 🙁 So, they opened a smaller venue downtown with many of the same menu items and it seems to be a success. The food was really good! Here’s a small sampling of what we had. Glazed shrimp, braised short ribs, pickled beet salad and a Brazilian meat board. Thursday night special is a Surf and Turf night, but somehow missed that picture.

Friday was chores for a friend who had knee replacement surgery recently and getting her to physical therapy and some lunch.Today will be much of the same with getting her to X-RAY, surgeon follow up appointment and physical therapy.

Saturday was a bunch of us “girls” getting together to go U-PICKing for fruits, veggies, nuts and berries at a local favorite farm. I normally go to their market stand in town where they also have a small bakery and provisional products. You definitely save a bit of money picking your own though. It’s end of season up here and they’ll only be open a few more weeks so being there during this ‘change of season’ weekend was perfect timing for this outing.

We followed it up with drinks and lunch at a favorite little vineyard with flights, avalanches and a charcuterie style selection on cheeses and wood fired pizza on their patio since the weather was so nice.

Sunday was football and lunch with the bestie and then dinner with my mom at a favorite old tavern for sandwiches. Now let’s get on with the week. Welcome to Monday!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE

That dreaded Indian Summer is trying to creep into my fall vibes, but I refuse to let it dampen my attitude. Today and tomorrow will be in the low 80’s but at least the nighttime lows will be just that, LOWS in the 40’s and 50’s. We’ll then go back down into the low 70’s thank you autumn for arriving on time!

ON MY MIND

I just keep shaking my head in disbelief. In my mind I keep hearing my aunt who used to say P.U.S.H all the time to us when we had problems. PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS. So, I keep PUSHing that this world will do the same and right itself.

TO DO LIST, APPOINTMENTS & PROJECTS

THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
  • LAUNDRY & CLEANING I did the deep clean on our bedroom last week and started the pantry trying to get the canned goods and freezer cleaned out.
  • GROCERIES & ERRANDS Just a few groceries for me and whatever a friend who just had her knee replaced needs. Hubby will be doing some yard work for her and I’m going to get her hummingbird feeders fixed as well as get her to physical therapy a few days. I’m sure she’ll need a few groceries, but I’m keeping her in dinners for now.
  • PAPERWORK, PHONE CALLS, PROJECTS & TRAVELS I’m still organizing all the papers and files I found and/or changed around during last week’s deep clean. I also got linked back up to Bloglovin’.
  • RECIPE RESEARCH & MENU PLANNING I’ve been taking this just a few days at a time because the weather keeps changing. So, I’m cooking on a whim these days 😀

DVR/TV TIME

WHAT’S ON THE DVR/TV
  • STREAMING ~ We’re still binge watching FRINGE of an evening and probably will until the DVR gets a few more fall shows its coffers.
  • CABLE ~ The fall shows are beginning, but I’m still figuring it all out and haven’t had a chance yet to watch anything. We did watch the sneak peek of the new Matlock show with Kathy Bates and I think it will be really good.

WEEKEND RECAP

Good morning sweet friends. Can you believe we are already half way through September? Seems like it was just August! Our cooler mornings are really making me appreciate my butterscotch coffee and snuggling under my favorite blanket while I type this up.

My weekend began on Friday doing a deep clean that became a domino effect of several rooms leading into most of Saturday – kind of a reverse spring cleaning. I’ve boxed up several boxes for the garage and several bags for donation. Hubby made me take yesterday off for my birthday, but I’m hoping to finish today before, but probably after my noon meeting or maybe Tuesday if I can’t get done before the 4:30 meeting. We did go out for lunch on Saturday to a local haunt for our favorite pizza and salad. I was surprised with a impromptu birthday celebration at a friends bar and grill yesterday with friends that was a lot of fun followed by birthday drinks with another friend at the Eagles and then dinner with friends on their deck overlooking the pond and sunset.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE

The past week has been wonderful in the low to mid 70’s and expected to continue into this week with the exception of tomorrow and Wednesday when it is supposed to dip into the low 60’s with rain before returning back to the 70’s. Once again I am NOT complaining as the weather is near perfect! 🙂 It’s that time of year where I need to start keeping a lightweight sweatshirt in the car and/or wear shoes and socks instead of my standard summer flip flops since I’m getting so cold inside most places these days.

TO DO LIST, APPOINTMENTS & PROJECTS

THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
  • LAUNDRY & CLEANING COMPLETELY up to date except for a bit of ironing.
  • GROCERIES & ERRANDS I need to evaluate my week and search the pantry to make a list. I’m trying to plan the menu around the freezer and the pantry to pare down what’s on stock.
  • PAPERWORK, PHONE CALLS, PROJECTS & TRAVELS Now that the deep clean is done I have several boxes of papers to sort through. I just love being organized.
  • RECIPE RESEARCH & MENU PLANNING I’m still searching for fall recipes, but so far so good – hubby has been happy with the new recipes so far.

DVR/TV TIME

WHAT’S ON THE DVR/TV
  • STREAMING We are still binge watching FRINGE of an evening waiting on the new season of seasonal premieres. During the day I started binge “watching” aka listening to THE SCARECROW and MRS. KING which I’m not sure I ever saw the first time through!

We went to feed the peacocks on Thursday afternoon and went across the new bridge between our town and a neighboring town. The old one was a one lane bridge with a light. It’s been quite an ordeal for them to both build the new one and tear down the old one because it not only spans across an active rail line, but also was full of asbestos. But, they’re almost done.

WEEKEND RECAP

Good morning friends. Can you believe a week of September is already over? Sure seems like it was just August! Come on in, pour yourself a cup of my butterscotch fall coffee and let’s have a chat.

We started the weekend on Thursday night this week having dinner with a friend on another friend’s deck. She and I both have September birthdays and have agreed that at this age we get to celebrate ALL month so we take every opportunity to celebrate. She is also a WONDERFUL guinea pig letting me try new recipes on her. We celebrated the end of summer with wonderful Tequila Rose Fizzes, “elegant” pigs in a blanket and lemon blueberry crinkle cake. I had never heard of crinkle cake until a recent Master Chef episode and found it is all the TikTok rage, but I don’t TikTok either. 😂 I did make it my own though and we all thought it was really tasty!

Friday was errand day and then a fundraiser dinner a friend was cooking for.

Saturday was a lazy morning and then we met some friends for drinks in the afternoon. I made some delicious Black Bean Salsa chicken in my new NINJA Foodi PRO – I’m really loving my new toy.

Sunday was also a lazy morning (we’ve been spending less time outside with the smokey air) followed by lunch with a friend who had been on vacation. I did some organizing in the afternoon and of course this was the first full football weekend. 😀 I hope your team won. Congratulations Jean – it was a great game. And sorry Carrie – I hope next week is better in celebration of your wedding and my birthday. I always root for the Dolphins AND the Lions because they have had such tough seasons in recent years, but they BOTH won and looked pretty good! Sorry to hubby though who is a Rams fan.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE

We had a few recent days of heat advisories, but fall appears to be arriving here in the Pacific North West and that is making this girl EXTREMELY happy. Highs this week in the 70’s and low’s in the 50’s will be just perfect!

TO DO LIST, APPOINTMENTS & PROJECTS

THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
  • LAUNDRY & CLEANING I have a couple loads of laundry to do and will be deep cleaning our bedroom on Friday I think.
  • GROCERIES & ERRANDS I have a meat box arriving later this week that I’ll need to be home for and I’ll do most the grocery shopping later this morning. My plan is to be home for my birthday weekend (this upcoming weekend) baking and cooking whatever I want 😀 so I’m getting all the “chores” done early this week.
  • PROJECTS & TRAVELS No BIG projects this week.
  • RECIPE RESEARCH & MENU PLANNING I’m working on a fall menu full of stews, soups, chilis and casseroles, but taking things one week at a time right now.

WEEKEND RECAP

It’s official. We’re in the “BER months and I couldn’t be happier! I think they are my favorite months of the year along with January, February and March 😀 😂 🤣 In other words I’m just not fond of June through August.

It was a fairly quiet weekend, especially for a holiday one. I went to the farmer’s market and grocery shopping on Saturday morning and then made some Bolegnese sauce with veggies and tomatoes from the garden and even got some laundry done also. Saturday night we watched a couple movies. I’ve also been house sitting and feeding our neighbor’s cat as well as watering their plants so that took a bit of time in the evening.

Sunday was much of the same except that the weather was so much nicer!!!!! Saturday had been quite warm with a nice breeze in the evening, but Sunday was beautiful from start to finish!

Now let’s get this new week started! We have friends coming for BBQ ribs, coleslaw and watermelon later and I need to get the homemade sauce started. 😀

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE

This week should be a carbon copy of last week with highs in the 80’s and low’s in the 50’s – pretty dang perfect in my book!

TO DO LIST, APPOINTMENTS & PROJECTS

THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
  • LAUNDRY & CLEANING all done 🙂
  • GROCERIES & ERRANDS also all done – at least until the end of the week. And I have no appointments this week for a change.
  • RECIPE RESEARCH & MENU PLANNING I’m still working on some fall themed recipes for my new NINJA cooker.

DVR/TV TIME

WHAT’S ON THE DVR/TV
  • NETFLIX Watched a few movies – some REALLY good and others quite questionable to have been on a decent streaming channel. We also started watching YELLOWJACKETS (very LOOSELY based on the 1972 plane crash in the Andes Mountains) at the suggestion of a friend. It’s interesting, a bit graphic and gross at times, but intriguing enough I want to see where they go with it.
  • CABLE I was able to get caught up on Masterchef and some old movies in the DVR.

WEEKEND RECAP

The weekend weather was ABSOLUTELY beautiful. A girlfriend and I went to a local Vintage Street fair that is held annually. Fortunately the weekend rain fell Friday night before the event and while it was cool enough for flannel shirts in the morning, it was perfect the rest of the day. We had yummy local made sourdough lemon poppy seed treats and lavender ice tea and found some wonderful vintage finds for upcoming Christmas projects and gifts. Sunday was just a lazy day and that was okay by me!! I had so much to catch up on!!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE

We are supposed to heat back up a little bit this week, but fortunately the nighttime lows are going to be perfect so once again, that is just fine by me! Highs in the low 80’s for the most part and lows in the low 50’s 😀

ON MY MIND

My surgery follow up is on Wednesday and I should be released to “normal” activity though my choices for normal will be different by MY choosing. I do have a meeting tonight and expect a bit of blow back from some of my decisions to NOT be involved in some things moving forward. I will continue to do fundraiser dinners on Fridays once a month or so, but am dialing it back A LOT on other levels.

TO DO LIST, APPOINTMENTS & PROJECTS

THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
  • LAUNDRY & CLEANING I have a couple loads of laundry to do and a bit of vacuuming, but all good otherwise.
  • GROCERIES & ERRANDS I need quite a few things for the fundraiser dinner on Friday and will shop later today so I can get the macaroons done soon. I guess it will be a several trips to town kind of week since my post op is on Wednesday but I need things today and tomorrow 😀

WEEKEND RECAP

The Eagle’s Madam President dinner was a HUGE success! I have given up MANY of my day to day operational, maintenance and support duties because of the new board and their inability to follow rules and guidelines in the best interest of others, but I still support my sisters when and where I can with my cooking and baking. A friend asked me to bake her desserts for her fundraising dinner functions that occurred on National Lemon Meringue day and on the eve of our local Blackberry festival so I made her lemon blueberry scones, cherry lemon scones and blackberry pie bars. She made a fantastic dinner and had a dessert bar with one of the largest turnouts ever!

Hubby and I planned on being at the Show and Shine first thing Saturday morning because we were going to be under a red flag warning later in the day for dry lightning strikes. Well mother nature had other ideas! The coffee had just finished brewing when the power went out. Long story short a lightning strike took out a transformer transmission pole for several small towns. I took a shower by candlelight and then we still went to the Festival which fortunately was in an area unaffected by the power outage. Afterwards we went and had breakfast with a friend and the power was back on just as we got home. The serious rain began an hour or so later and the lightning storm continued throughout the evening.

I was able to get the tomatoes picked and garden cleaned up before the rain began and spent the day making my kitchen sink (clean out the veggie crisper) bolegnese sauce with the tomatoes I picked.

Sunday was planned to be almost as lazy. And then we changed our mind. 😀 It was our anniversary and the restaurants (there are only 2) that we had to choose from for a nice dinner out are now closed on Sundays so we decided to go out tonight instead and head to the coast yesterday which was a GREAT choice for us until it wasn’t LOL traffic to and from the coast was heavy so we changed our mind again and went back to the lazy Sunday idea and had a late breakfast/lunch at a local haunt that runs wonderful specials for the Blackberry festival.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE

This week is going to be pretty nice with highs in the low 80’s and lows in the low 50’s. I really hope this means fall is right around the corner. It’s only 3 weeks to the ‘BER’ months and I am ready!!! Please no Indian Summer this year!

WEEKEND RECAP

It was the County Fair last week. We went on Thursday (Military Day and hubby got in free). As much as I LOVE the fair, it was a miserable day with high heat, high humidity, horrific air quality from the fires all around us and it was REALLY bothering my eyes. Friday we were going to spend the day antiquing in a town to the north and have dinner out, but after we got there and made the first stop I just didn’t feel right so we stopped for a late lunch and came home so I could rest more. Saturday and Sunday were just spent lounging around the house and getting the laundry done as well as watching the closing OLYMPIC ceremonies.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE

This week looks like it will be beautiful, sunny and in the high 70’s. The real determinant will be wind direction and the smoke from ALL the local fires.

ON MY MIND

I got my stitches out last Wednesday, but incisions were still infected so was put on an additional week of antibiotics. I’ve been doing so well before this with staying healthy that it concerns me to be backsliding. Being immunocompromised really isn’t any fun!

WEEKEND RECAP

Good morning dear friends. I hope you all enjoyed your week! After being pretty much a homebody for 10 days we FINALLY really got out and about on Saturday. We started early and visited 3 different farmer’s markets in 3 surrounding towns and had a pizza at a favorite brewery, but the smokey fire air was getting to my eyes along with the heat and humidity so we came home mid afternoon and I binge watched a couple shows and then we watched a SYFY movie called MADAME WEB after dinner.

Sunday was more laid back, but I did accomplish getting the laundry caught up as well as some deep cleaning and organizing. I’ve been doing little projects where I can stay away from dust and bacteria. I ended up in the on-call ophthalmologist’s office last Tuesday with a slight infection starting so ended up on antibiotics 🙁 nipping the infection right away and at least I get my stitches out Wednesday! 😀 I also pickled the beets I bought at the farmer’s market and grilled BBQ chicken for an early dinner.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE

This week is supposed to be a lot of partly cloudy and still in the 90’s with A LOT of smoke, so not the prettiest of weeks. This will be definitely be a flip flop week with comfy Levi’s and tanks with lightweight blouses. I’m hoping Thursday is a really good weather day since most of it will be spent outside at the county fair. I will wear actual shoes that day 😀

ON MY MIND

For the past 2 years I have been trying really hard to stay up with blogging daily. So, 3 days a week I have set up to do WORDLESS WEDNESDAY, SATURDAY COFFEE and SILENT SUNDAY. These 3 days seem like all I do is post a meme or special picture, but a lot of thought goes into deciding these and they each mean something to me in a positive way I want to convey to others. My husband asked me if that was cheating? I don’t think so – it’s just my Type A personality staying focused and organized 😀 I do post Happy Homemaker Monday in depth and 2-3 recipes, tutorials or trips on the other 3 days that require much more thought.

TO DO LIST, APPOINTMENTS & PROJECTS

THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
  • LAUNDRY & CLEANING ALL done!
  • GROCERIES & ERRANDS I’ll head to town in a bit to get a few things.
  • RECIPE RESEARCH & MENU PLANNING August is done, but I’ll start September soon and am looking for some fun fall recipes.

DVR/TV TIME

WHAT’S ON THE DVR/TV
  • NETFLIX We finished the SWEET TOOTH series with James Brolin narrating – love his voice.
  • AMAZON PRIME We have spent more time inside the past week with me still recuperating and the wind shifting so we were getting HORRIBLE smoke and ash from the fires in the eastern part of the state. So, we watched SPACE CADET which was cute, kind of like a space version of LEGALLY BLONDE from years ago. We finally watched THE BOYS ON THE BOAT. We also started watching STARGATE ATLANTIS as binge reruns.
  • CABLE Cooking shows – BBQ BRAWL, FOOD TRUCK RACE, MARY MAKES IT EASY
  • THEATRE The smoke was really bad, but we were tired of staying indoors so went to see TWISTERS! It was really good, but then again it was a Spielberg film 😀

We took back roads a lot this weekend and I noticed that so many farms are starting to stockpile bales of hay for winter. And I LOVE barns, so getting a few pictures of some of my favorites was quite nice. I also LOVE finding these rocks and re-hiding them!

WEEKEND RECAP

We were supposed to go to a going away party on Saturday, but skipped it because it was moved to a smaller venue and with me still having stitched incisions (stitches come out on August 7th) and a recent COVID outbreak in our area I just thought it would be a prudent move.

Hubby did take me out to lunch though at a favorite haunt where I tried a new menu item. I LOVED half of it (the salad), but have ruled out the other half (the burger) from ever ordering it again 😂 There was a several hour power outage at home while we gone when a turkey vulture somehow blew a transformer and put 3,500 people out of service.

Yesterday we did go visit a few friends for a bit, but other than those 2 outings, it’s been super boring being at home, but unable to do much.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE

Today is going to be beautiful (81°) and then we jump back up toward triple digits (mid-high 90’s) and higher humidity for the next 9 days! At least the nights are getting down in temperature (high 50’s) making the days more tolerable. Glad I’m spending so much time indoors. The smoke has been pretty bad from a fire or two in the area.

ON MY MIND

Can you believe August begins this week? It literally feels like this year is flying by!

I’m dealing with a level of inactivity I haven’t had to deal with in several years and it’s driving me stir crazy! I have only been out of commission for less than a week, but during that time the things that have happened at the Eagles has confirmed my decision to back off and find other avenues of volunteering. The first thing that happened was that out of desperation they actually contacted me 2 days after surgery to ask me to work the kitchen as a “short order cook” Saturday night even knowing I’m out of commission until the end of August! Not sure what they thought no lifting or bending means.

The stitches come out on August 7th and I will be readily working my way into a new daily routines sans Eagle’s duties though! See THOUGHT FOR THE DAY above!!

TO DO LIST, APPOINTMENTS & PROJECTS

THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
  • LAUNDRY & CLEANING Hubby has been really good about staying up on the laundry and getting me everything I need as well as doing enough to keep me from feeling like I need to do cleaning things.
  • GROCERIES & ERRANDS Hubby is going to take me grocery shopping this morning and to COSTCO. I’m going to start doing the cooking again this evening so need a few things. I did enjoy hubby’s scrambled eggs, pizza and Kraft mac and cheese with hot dogs, but am looking forward to getting back to some scratch cooking.
  • PAPERWORK, PHONE CALLS, PROJECTS & TRAVELS Probably not much this week, but I am still sorting through and organizing some papers and files.
  • RECIPE RESEARCH & MENU PLANNING Have been limiting my screen time as it is so hard on my eyes, but have found that has helped me have more time with paper books and recipes so have the August menu researched and planned.

DVR/TV TIME

WHAT’S ON THE DVR/TV
  • Being down this week has given me A LOT of time to catch up on movies and shows. We FINALLY saw The BEEKEEPER with Jason Statham which was quite violent, but I loved the basic story plot. We also saw a couple of cute Disney movies and are halfway through the 3rd season of SWEET TOOTH. We also watched GHOSTBUSTERS-FROZEN EMPIRE and I found an interesting British show called BONEKICKERS about archaeologists who explore and test our knowledge of history with their discoveries. I’m almost done with the OLD MACGYVER series. I also found a new cooking show that begins August 9th about BLUE RIBBON BAKING that I’m looking forward to.
  • CABLE I’m also caught up on the FOOD TRUCK RACE and the BBQ BRAWL as well as MARY MAKES IT EASY.

READING TIME

I just finished Fannie Flagg’s I STILL DREAM ABOUT YOU and began Heather Webber’s A CERTAIN KIND OF STARLIGHT. She’s one of my favorite authors. I did start listening to Philippa Nefri Clark’s THE COTTAGE AT WHISPER LAKE the first few days after surgery, but it keeps putting me to sleep when I close my eyes, so that’s not working.

FUNNIES

MENU PLANS

BREAKFAST is always a work in progress for me – it will generally be hot water and a fruit yogurt 😀

I get to start cooking again today and resuming MOST normal activity so I wanted a fun menu. The first 3 recipes of the week are adapted from Mary Berg and have become favorites. The BBQ Chicken Legs are made with my ALOHA BBQ sauce, the DIANA Burgers are based on the cheeseburgers my friend makes us at her Bar & Grill and the Spicy Chicken Skewers are also adapted from the internet for summer recipes.

WEEKEND RECAP

I spent the entire weekend volunteering for a Community event, the BBQ ThrowDown. We had a wonderful turn out and a GREAT time also. Besides that we helped a friend who got locked out of her house and another that needed some electronic wiring work straightened out.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE

After the storm on Saturday night yesterday cooled off by almost 20 degrees and it’s supposed to remain that way throughout the entire week 😀 which makes me REALLY happy! I’m wearing a favorite pair of Levis, plaid blouse and birkenstock thongs.

TO DO LIST, APPOINTMENTS & PROJECTS

THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS

The BBQ Throwdown (BAGS, BBQ & BREWS) was another HUGE success in our little town. Last year was the first year and there were 29 BBQ teams from around the country and one of the judges even flew in from Ireland!

This year we expanded to 40 BBQ teams and more Breweries and Wineries joined in too! We also have a HUGE Corn Hole tournament. I love the old trucks and trailers that were retrofitted into taps! There were several local vendors also including a young man who makes GORGEOUS hand made bowls of all types and his mother helping him get a start in business.

Thanks to Terry and his wife Lisa, local business owners who along with Dan and Nicole spearheaded this endeavor for ALL of their hard work doing everything and anything it took to make this event happen successfully. It supports scholarships for trade and tech schools. Not sure yet how much their doing this year, but last year they gave out $20,000 in scholarships. Not bad for the first year! I’ll update this after I find out what this year’s total is. There were also really unique and innovative awards handed out.

The food was plentiful and oh so yummy! Saturday was super hot (mid nineties and humid) and I came home that night with a little heat stroke and collapsed, but yesterday was absolutely gorgeous (mid seventies) after a thunderstorm roared in with a lightning storm and lots of rain. Tough on the BBQers that were manning smokers, but made for a gorgeous day Sunday. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the weekend. And I couldn’t have done this again if I tried, but a guy set his beer on the table while he bought more chips from me. I dropped one of the chips and it bounced perfectly into his beer.
