This past week was extremely warm (mid 80’s) and very humid for March in southeast Texas, but then the weekend turned almost cold and windy bringing back out the sweatshirts we started the trip with. Fortunately we’ll be leaving here later today before the warm weather returns. So I’m starting today in Levi’s, a favorite t-shirt, sweatshirt and some tennies that I should have broken in better before the trip.
I’m glad we came to help my cousin and be here for the memorial. My aunt passed several years back so now both of my god parents are gone. I know my aunt and uncle are looking down and proud of my decisions. That said, I’m glad to be heading home having done all I can do to help and be leaving it in my rear view mirror. I’m going to leave the rest of my thoughts mulling over in my brain until next week 😀
THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
LAUNDRY I got caught up on laundry yesterday so we’ll start the trip home will ALL clean clothes.
RECIPE RESEARCH & MENU PLANNING I ran across a few of my aunt’s old recipes that were wonderful as a child, but will need to be converted to scratch now. Who really knows what this week will bring for a menu. The one thing I do know is a lot of eating out for our main meal.
WHAT’S ON THE DVR/TV
Not much as it’s all at home on the DVR, but we did watch a couple Amazon movies – UPGRADED, THE OTHER ZOEY and ALIENS ABDUCTED MY PARENTS
I just began THE ENEMY at HOME by Kevin O’Brien, a WWII historical suspense novel. I’ve really been enjoying historical WWII novels.
BREAKFAST is always a work in progress for me – it will generally be hot water and a fruit yogurt 😀

Other than a few outings to favorite haunts for some long missed meals our week was spent working on clearing out my uncle’s house – throwing away the trash from the shed, house and garage, packing up the donations for his favorite charity and helping my cousin pack what she is taking home with her to Kansas. We’re exhausted and ready to start heading home!

Snowing at home and a balmy mid 70’s here. A real toss up for me! I LOVE the snow and cooler weather, miss my friends and volunteer projects, but so love the restaurants, shopping and things to do here! But, like they say, you can’t go home again. We’ve been gone from here a few years now and in that time the traffic has gotten even more absolutely horrendous, the people are absolutely EVERYWHERE and it seems like a lifetime ago since this was my hometown.
For the past year I’ve been working with a girlfriend on estate sales and have loved doing it. We just finished one right before we left to help my cousin with her father’s estate. I have to say this is so much easier when you don’t personally know the person 🙁
THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
LAUNDRY & CLEANING I’ve been doing some laundry and cleaning here at my uncle’s as we begin “THE SORT”. My cousin will be here on Friday to begin going through things and loading her van and trailer to take things back home.
GROCERIES & ERRANDS There are a couple errands I need to do while we are here in the city that I can’t do elsewhere and I’ll bring in a few groceries at that time.
PAPERWORK, PHONE CALLS, PROJECTS & TRAVELS we’ll see what I can get accomplished from afar.
RECIPE RESEARCH & MENU PLANNING I’m trying to get caught up on posting for Cooking Thursdays.
WHAT’S ON THE DVR/TV
Not sure what this week will bring.

We’re beginning our LONG journey to my uncle’s funeral today so this will be quick.
I think the weather will change hourly for the next several days. I am starting with a turtleneck, flannel, levis and Ugg’s. It is supposed to be exceptionally cold and snowy here this week with the latest storm moving in.
I’m feeling a little melancholy about what this weekend will bring emotionally. I also feel bad for hubby as Saturday is a BIG birthday for him, and no matter how we tried, we couldn’t arrange the service at any other time to accommodate everyone. As much as I LOVE to travel I’m not thrilled about traveling during this time of year, but you know my motto – IT IS WHAT IT IS! 😀
The weather on the other end of this trip will be much warmer so that also increases the amount of packing and layers necessary.
THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
Nothing to do this week or next, but will do a bit of recipe research while I’m gone. I will also visit my favorite spice shop and farmer’s market while I’m gone.

I’ll take hubby someplace special tonight – just the 2 of us for his birthday.
DESSERT
chocolate cake of course
I found this fun alien #RailArt near the local lumber yard the other day and I planted a crocus, but it was a bit too soon. This is the prettiest it will ever be 🙁 Herbie on the other hand has mainly artificial flowers planted in it so looks absolutely adorable.

The weather this week is supposed to be all over the place – anywhere from the high 30’s to the high 50’s during the day and in the 30’s at night with primarily gray, cloudy, foggy and rainy off and on ALL week. Hoodies and Levis are the uniform of the week 😀
I’m trying to get better organized! Things are still a bit jumbled and chaotic with so many repairs and issues going on. It has truly been Murphy’s Law around here. Hubby replaced the parts for the kitchen sink drain and all is well on that front again, but we have black ants now (the kind that are looking for warmth or water) that are a pain in the winter. They hang out in outlets and shower drains and such. We’re having issues with rim leaks on a specific tire that is the issue of the day, for multiple days now. If it isn’t one thing it’s another.
The roofers came last week and said they fixed the leak (AGAIN) in the relatively new roof. Unfortunately, they didn’t 🙁 but fortunately the new project manager is a good and reasonable guy. He brought a small crew over last Saturday and took up the less than 2 year old section and changed all the flashing and laid new roof. They checked inside and out, but I’m leaving the bucket in place for a week or so just to be sure since they claimed to have fixed it many times before. There is still a lot of back and forth with my uncle’s passing. He lived in Texas, my cousin lives in Kansas and I’m in the Pacific North West. We have been having multiple conversations for weeks about everything and taking care of things from a far. It is all still a work in process, but obviously weighing heavy on my mind as we prepare for all this entails.
THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
LAUNDRY & CLEANING Laundry is up to date and ironing is on today’s to do list!
GROCERIES & ERRANDS I have a haircut on Wednesday, but not much more this week on this front.
PAPERWORK, PHONE CALLS, PROJECTS & TRAVELS Tomorrow will be the day for phone calls and they are the kind that will require A LOT of time on hold unfortunately.
RECIPE RESEARCH & MENU PLANNING I’m hoping for a weather change to update the menu soon, but for now will be focusing on soups, chilis an stews for March.
WHAT’S ON THE DVR/TV
AMAZON PRIME We’re almost done binge re-watching GRIMM.
PARAMOUNT+ We’re almost done with re-watching CHEERS at night.
CABLE We need to get caught up on the DVR now that the new season has begun.
I’ve been so busy lately that I fall asleep quickly and have gotten very little reading done! I’m hoping to finish Canary Girls this week. It’s a very good book and I’m leaning so much!! I’m really sad it’s taking me so long to read.

This is Miss Maya, a sweet little cat at a recent job we were working on. This has been such a wet winter that the moldy moss and grass growth is REALLY bad this year! I took these pictures downtown near a business we frequent. BUT, there is hope! These daffodils made a brief appearance on a sunny day.
Doing Happy Homemaker Monday, EVERY MONDAY, loyally for all these years and so extensively helps keep me on track of my daily life as it summarizes the past week and lays out a fairly concise plan for the current week.

Good morning dear ladies. Welcome to my little corner of blogland. As we get this new week, the last week of October going and the holidays are on the radar, I’m really getting excited this year. I’m not sure why I’m so excited, but I am and I’m really looking forward to the decorating mostly. I just love the cozy feel of candle light, Christmas tree lights…
The Fall/Winter weather is here… Layering, flannel, cozy, socks and sweaters… 😀
We went from highs in the 70’s to the 40’s literally in just a few hours! Hubby was prepping the garden beds for winter when the first BIG storm of the year blew in. We had it all – wind, hard sideways rain, hail… ALL AT ONCE!
I’m trying a small cup of coffee and some oatmeal this morning.
THIS WEEK’S TO DO LIST, PROJECTS & APPOINTMENTS
LAUNDRY & CLEANING Had to turn the heat on so I’ve been doing a deep clean getting ready for the holiday season.
GROCERIES & ERRANDS I’ve inventoried the freezer and pantry so have very few things to pick up, but will head into town on Friday for those few things. I started a separate tote with the ingredients I’ll need for the 2 Eagles dinners I’ll be preparing as well as the ingredients I’ll need for the raffle basket and appetizer I’m putting together for a Scholarship Fund event.
PAPERWORK, PHONE CALLS & PROJECTS I’ll be working on some things today and tomorrow in organizing and sorting some things.
RECIPE RESEARCH & MENU PLANNING I promised hubby we’d end October on an easy note while I’ve been deep cleaning so will readdress this category next month.

NETFLIX – We started watching “THE WATCHER” based on the true story of 657 Boulevard and are 3 episodes in and we are in season 14 of NCIS.
CABLE – There are a few shows that I’ve already written off for the season and am happy about that and then I added a couple more this past week. I still have my favorite though. I’m getting the DVR caught up. I should finish Adrift tonight and need to choose a new book for tomorrow.
Last year we had so much rain that the water stood on the plastic creating a real mess, so this year he mounded the dirt to prevent that. I commented on how it looked he’d buried a body. Yesterday, trying to be cute, he added this cute little headstone.

I hope you all had a beautiful mother’s day! Ours was a very pretty day. We took SIL to lunch and did a little shopping before we had a relaxing afternoon ending with dinner in front of the TV and a couple old movies, Fried Green Tomatoes and When Harry Met Sally.
GOOD MORNING sweet friends. This will be a super abbreviated post for me as we’re on the road today to our 3rd leg of this trip, a relaxing stay at SIL’s Lake House before we head out to visit with hubby’s elderly father and the actual family reunion.
I hope you had as great a week as we did! This was a MUCH NEEDED vacation. BTW, the Winchester Mystery House was a fantastic tour day and I will share a post with pictures when we get back 😀
OUTSIDE MY WINDOW & THE WEATHER OUTSIDE & WHAT I’M WEARING It’s cool here and absolutely gorgeous, but will be 20 degrees warmer at the lake! I have some well worn Levi’s with cute campy t-shirt, sweatshirt and pops on.
ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE Honey Nut Cheerios, mixed berry yogurt and hot water
AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE, WEEKLY TO DO LIST, HOUSE & CRAFT PROJECTS, APPOINTMENTS – Nothing but FUN this week! Some old friends are driving in to have breakfast with us on Friday morning and my niece is bring my newest nephew to meet me on Saturday!
ON MY MIND / THINGS THAT ARE MAKING ME HAPPY Looking forward to seeing FIL this week as he is now in hospice and we cherish every visit knowing it may be the last 🙁
I’M READING My friend loaned me 3 books for the trip – Diane Chamberlain’s Summer Child and The Midwife’s Confession as well as Kristin Hannah’s Night Road. It will be the perfect reading for vacation 😀 though I have to admit I have yet to start anything.
WHAT IS ON THE DVR, I LIKE OR ON THE LIST TO WATCH ?? will see when we return
FAVORITE PHOTO FROM THE CAMERA SIL saves up her IT technological stuff until we visit and then I adjust, alter, download or teach whatever she needs – so far we’ve done the phone lessons in the wonderful sunshine by the frog pond and hubby happened to capture me instructing her on removing the alarm on her phone 😀

HEALTH & BEAUTY TIPS – HOMEMAKING & COOKING TIP
MENU PLANS FOR THE WEEK Zero plans as we’re still on vacation, but I will be making a Loaded Baked Potato Salad for the pot Luck on Saturday night and will share the recipe once we get back 😀
GOOD MORNING dear friends. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We are at our summer destination finally and almost settled in. I hate admitting that I don’t travel well these days, but it’s a fact that I’m learning to deal with and hope will be non-existent by the time we finish the summer restoring my strength and health. I am pushing myself already to do things that tire me and wear me out, but ultimately will make me stronger. Time will tell.
OUTSIDE MY WINDOW & THE WEATHER OUTSIDE & WHAT I’M WEARING – so we’re finally in the desert and it’s already HOT outside, but I’m going to start the day with swimming so I’m in my swimsuit and cover up while I have my tea. Last week was extreme heat (Friday was 115°) right after we got here so we vegged and settled in over the weekend. This week should be triple digits ranging from 106-114.
ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE – Green tea and a banana so far
CRAFTS / PROJECTS – nothing at the moment
ON MY MIND / THINGS THAT ARE MAKING ME HAPPY
Having a HUGE issue with trying to regulate diet and life in general so I can get “healthy”. I’m used to being a strong, caretaker, fix-it type person and am having BIG issues with admitting that I am NOT that person, at least NOT right now. I pray that concentrating on getting healthier will happen sooner than later.
Also having a HUGE issue with still losing weight no matter how hard I try to eat higher caloric things so I get enough.
FAVORITE PHOTO FROM THE CAMERA – I’m still sorting through pictures from our trip, but here’s another favorite
This is “FLO”short for Floater. My SIL names all her critters, even the frogs! With being so sick last week, this became my favorite place to sit in the sun and try to feel better.
On the way to the desert we stopped in Santa Barbara to take hubby’s dad to lunch on his 96 1/2 birthday! We had some time to kill before we got there and went by my very favorite tree, the Moreton Bay Fig Tree originally planted in 1876. Here’s the link if you’d like to read the history.

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW & THE WEATHER OUTSIDE & WHAT I’M WEARING – The sun is shinning, bu it’s beginning to get more and more sticky out there (which I hate). We’re predicted with high 90’s and high corresponding humidity all week and no rain in sight! I have on Levi’s pedal pushers and a comfy t-shirt.

GOOD MORNING sweet ladies. It’s been a busy week around here and I’m still struggling with energy issues so am not getting as much done as I want AND/OR need to which is leaving me frustrated. My TO DO list is growing, but at least there will be a reward at the other end of this hassle. I’m really looking forward to the time to rehab with the gym and pool in hopes that my elusive energy and strength return in earnest.
I’m having a few blog issues too that are baffling my server guy so I’m a bit frustrated every time I see that “fatal error” on my side bar. I’m hoping he figures it out soon and I can have a bit easier way of blogging. Right now I have to log in, password and all EVERY time – so frustrating.
OUTSIDE MY WINDOW & THE WEATHER OUTSIDE & WHAT I’M WEARING – The sun is shining, but there is no breeze blowing. It’s official, summer is here! 90’s all week with an ever increasing humidity equals = BOY AM I GLAD we’re leaving 😀
I’m wearing Levi’s capris with my favorite ovarian cancer awareness t-shirt and flip flops. And it is definitely time to start automatically putting this mop of hair in a ponytail first thing in the morning.
ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE – Peach protein shake and green tea

Good morning everyone. I cannot believe it’s Monday again. Last week just completely sped by! I’ve barely gotten last week’s visits in before it was time to write today’s post! I promise to be better this week about visiting! 😀 This will be another busy week, but I hope you are all having slower paced and enjoyable weeks.
OUTSIDE MY WINDOW & THE WEATHER OUTSIDE – we are no longer blessed with the unseasonally cool and nice weather we have had. I guess spring is over 🙁 Starting this week we have seriously higher humidity and temperatures will be in the high 80’s all week.
ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE – Cheerios, Small banana & Green tea
ON MY MIND / THINGS THAT ARE MAKING ME HAPPY – I’m trying really hard to live a positive life and not get too worked up over what is really out of my control.
FAVORITE PHOTO FROM THE CAMERA – I’m working on a post for our trip to the alligator park that will be up in a day or two, but I love this picture of a sleepy alligator that was yawning and couldn’t be bothered with the activity around him.

GOOD MORNING sweet ladies. I hope you all had a wonderful week. Mine was productive, but I’ve just been so tired. I’m having a REALLY tough time getting my energy back since the last surgery. The doctor keeps reminding me that 6 surgeries in 7 years (where the 1st and last were both really long surgeries – 8 hours each) is a lot for the body and to be patient, but patience is really NOT my strong suit. Not that I have much choice, so I just keep working at it. 😀
OUTSIDE MY WINDOW & THE WEATHER OUTSIDE – once again the storms hit over the weekend. Saturday night was a wonderful thunderstorm and then Sunday was just gray, but today and tomorrow are supposed to be bright and sunny! We’re moving into that part of the year that is just too warm and humid for me so we’ll see if that lasts or if mother nature has at least one more cool front for me 😀
ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE – honey nut cheerios and green tea
ON MY MIND / THINGS THAT ARE MAKING ME HAPPY – moving forward in continuous steps in all areas of life is making me smile more!

AS I LOOK AROUND THE HOUSE / WEEKLY TO DO LIST & HOUSE PROJECTS – there are no pressing appointments this week YAY 😀 I did get the results from last week and I’m good to go for a year on the mammogram, but they are watching the bone density more closely especially after the new issues with vitamin and mineral absorption from the stomach surgery. It’s ALWAYS something!

Good Morning sweet ladies. I’m up and going quite early as I have first AM appointments and wanted to make sure I got this up and ready to post before I leave. I just hope my energy stays with me through the end of the day 😀 So I’m going to get straight to it this morning.
OUTSIDE MY WINDOW & THE WEATHER OUTSIDE – lately it seems like we only have storms on weekends 😀 This week was no different as the storm started rolling in Friday afternoon. And once again it brought a severe temperature dip of almost 30 degrees AND it brought A LOT of wind. We were fortunate that we were far enough south that we escaped the hail and major tornado warnings as a whole. Thia week we are supposed to go back up to the 80’s, but no rain in sight so let’s hope the humidity stays low 😀
ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE – Green Tea only while prepping for this morning’s tests.
ON MY MIND / THINGS THAT ARE MAKING ME HAPPY – My mind is starting to work ALL the time as we move into the final stages of packing and prepping for a cross country move. Moving is never easy! But, it is even less so when moving things into storage for unknown period of time. We are making sure to take all the batteries out of remotes, clocks and tools before we pack them to avoid corrosion and anything that is getting washed is let to dry a few extra days before getting secured into packing.

APPOINTMENTS…this morning I have my bone density, mammogram and mammogram ultra sound and then my eye exam on Friday. I’ll especially be glad to have today’s tests over and know the results. Being a cancer survivor ALWAYS not only makes me more vigilant, but also makes the wait for results a hypersensitive time.
LAUNDRY… quite a few loads this week, towels, bedding (mattress covers and quilts too) and clothing PLUS I’m running the wall quilts through air cycles to collect the dust before packing
LIVING AREAS… plan on doing a deep clean today and tomorrow to catch the stray packing materials, but it is looking more and more like we’re moving soon 🙂
KITCHEN… pretty clean and empty as we keep using only what’s in the pantry and freezer
